I chose a simple layout because whether it be a prom dress, home decor or blog background I have always preferred simple, chic, and clean rather than highly distracting themes that take away from the point of the piece. I like the dark background in a nice shade of gray. I love turquoise with gray so I chose a turquoise palette for all of the lettering outside of my posts. I can't resist some nice turquoise. It also makes the gray seem less drab and adds enough color to the page. The font used for posts is straight forward without being too stiff or formal and serif. I wanted the Title to stand out so I made it slightly darker and much more bold than the date. I wanted the date to come across as informal and the Title to portray the fact the the blog was an individual's but the information is still reputable. I want my blog to emphasize the writing but also have meaningful and eye catching pictures.
I love the picture at the top of my page. The Caribbean is one of my most favorite places to be in the world. It is so beautiful and serene. The picture also matches my color scheme. On the side of my page there is a link to one of my favorite youtube videos. It was JoePa's Last game as well as his 409th win. It was the most exciting game I have ever seen and I am so glad that I got to be a part of it. The video also shows Penn State Pride and a time recently in Penn State's history where the biggest controversy in the football program as well as the university was who would be the starting quarterback. Towards the bottom of the page I included two photos that mean a lot to me. One is the Nittany Lion because Penn State has become and now I know will always be a big part of my life. I also love how majestic and beautiful the lion looks in the picture. This weekend I also attended THON which ended up having a greater impact on me than I could have anticipated. It is also a great source of pride for the University.
